By tracking steps with a Fitbit and hitting that 10,000 steps a day can really help to cut out 2,000 – 3,500 calories a week without exerting a whole lot of effort!  That’s approximately 1 – 1 ½# per week weight loss without doing anything else! Even if you don’t magically lose the pounds your heart will be happier and healthier.  

Losing weight and keeping fit is not easy. If it were there would be no need for Fitbit(s), eating plans, weight loss programs, gyms, etc. I think if we can change just a few of the everyday things we do (and yes, it is important to track those changes), we can upgrade our overall health and maybe even lose a few pounds.  As the years go by and we age, it gets even more difficult. I have found my activity level, although fairly high, is different from that of even 5 years ago. I try to eat healthy but sometimes I don’t feel like cooking – eating out is easier – but dangerous as far as choosing healthy foods! I try to minimize that experience by cooking a little ahead and freezing portions to thaw and heat later.  And even that precaution does not always work –  I then try to choose the least damaging foods when I eat out.  Desserts are my downfall and yes, I DO indulge on occasion!
